How you’ll make an impact:
The Accountant is responsible for continuous support for the Global Fixed Assets team while supporting the broader Corporate Reporting function at Carter’s.
This role will partner with cross functional teams across the organization to drive key company initiatives. It will provide hands-on knowledge of key accounting and reporting functions based on the key areas identified.
This role typically reports to the Accounting Manager, Corporate Reporting. Based at our Buckhead office in our on-site work environment.
40% Fixed Asset Accounting Activities
- Manage SAP Project System subledger, including releasing approved projects to receive costs in SAP
- Assist with reviewing invoices for accurate coding
- Work with business partners to assist with creation of new projects
- Review and contribute to the design or enhancement of the Fixed Assets module in SAP
- Assist with Treasury functions as needed
30% Month End Close Processes
- Assist with settlements and posting of depreciation expense
- Support closing calendar timelines for assigned tasks and communicate potential issues timely/accurately
- Execute queries and provide management with complete and accurate financial analysis/reports
- Complete General Ledger balance sheet and expense account analysis and work with business partners to resolve reconciling items
- Prepare and book standard periodic journal entries and non-standard entries for adjustments determined to be necessary through account reconciliation and analysis
- Assist with recording monthly accruals for several assigned areas; partner with business to ensure timeliness and accuracy of accruals as needed
- Assist with the monthly Finance Cost Center reporting as needed
20% Audit and SOX Compliance Function
- Maintain Fixed Assets supporting documentation
- Assist internal and external audit teams during financial and SOX audits/reviews
- Support the Tax department providing requested support for tax audits
- Performs specialized analysis at management request
10% Other
- Prepare company-wide current-year, future-year and long-range planning projected depreciation reports and interim updated versions, including analysis of Business Partner’s capital spending plans
- Participate in special projects as assigned
- Assist the Corporate Accounting group, as required
- Document business processes and update business process flows
We’d Love to hear from you if:
Must have:
- Minimum of one to two (1-2) years of accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
- Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), country-specific GAAP or other multi-country accounting experience is preferred
- Proficiency in Excel strong analytical and problem-solving skills and exhibits a high degree of accuracy
- Knowledge of SAP or equivalent.

- Competent to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment; flexibility is a must
- Able to handle confidential company financial and operational information in a responsible manner
- Committed to meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deliverables regardless of the obstacles (overtime, nights and occasional weekends may be required as needed)
