Essential Job Functions

  • Assist Buyer to achieve top line sales and profit goals

  • Assist with product samples (receiving/ unpacking and organizing samples, photo shoot sample management, request of missing samples)

  • Generate reporting to include sales and inventory reports, productivity reports,  excess reports, best/worst selling reports, promo reports, and ad hoc requests

  • Partner with assistant buyer for analysis of reporting

  • Assist with purchase order management by keying & modifying orders, maintaining order logs, communicating to customer service, and monitoring order levels

  • In partnership with assistant buyers, support price changes to align with weekly promotional cadence and business needs, including markdowns and ad hoc analysis

  • Partner with planning and allocation to communicate late deliveries and/or cancels, present monthly assortment strategies, and review PO logs

  • Partner with Buying, Visual, and Retail operations teams to help create communications for the stores. This communication includes sign placement guides, action packs, product tests, quality issues, and POS issues.

  • Support with seasonal buy preparation, including line structure, historical reporting, buy review set-up and take-down

  • Special Projects as assigned (examples: productivity analysis, market research, lab setup, ad hoc analysis, trend analysis)

  • Visit store locations to conduct research and analysis for a final project to be presented at the completion of the internship

  • Shadow merchandise analysts, assistant planners, and site coordinators to better understand the retail merchandising structure

  • Gain exposure to the overall buy process from planning to presentation to leadership by attending seasonal meetings, line structure meetings, and final buy review

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Rquirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Analytical, strategic, strong communication, organized 

  • Ability to multi task, detail oriented, flexible

Prior Work Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Seeking bachelor’s degree

  • Retail industry/store associate experience required

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (3.2 strongly preferred)

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor/Master’s degree program at the time of the internship (certificate programs are not eligible)

  • Availability to start on the designated start date in May

  • Availability to work for a minimum of 10 out of the 11 weeks of the defined internship period which runs from May-August
