This Cloud Developer will be integral to the Retail Technology organization by creating, enhancing, and supporting solutions that drive the business. The developer will work alongside team on retail store critical infrastructure in AWS such as the point of sale, pricing, post transaction services, store application APIs, and more!

How You’ll Make an Impact:

(60%) Project/Initiative Delivery:

  • Responsible for day-to-day full-stack development activities and new project initiatives for creating APIs and Amazon Web Service (AWS) components.

  • Develop solutions and implement "store of the future" technologies, all while delivering exceptional reliable and robust service to these retail units. Success in this role is the ability to be highly business facing with superb relationship building skills and bring to life technology that reduces friction for associates, delights the customer, and improves revenue.

  • Develop customized technical solutions to deliver new business capabilities, improve performance, and automate business processes by utilizing programming, scripting, and systems experience.

  • Participate in team developmet ceremonies such as code reviews, collaborations, pair programming, and knowledge transfer sessions.

  • Work on innovative projects to improve our inventory profitability and optimization including but not limited to AI/LLMS, RFID-related technologies, Loyalty, custom cloud services, and relevant inventory technologies.

(20%) Planning/design:

  • Partner with internal business and external vendors to collaboratively generate creative ideas, problem solve, and gather business and technical requirements.

  • Contribute to team ceremonies such as refinements, sprint plannings, and requirement gathering sessions.

  • Create documentation such as architecture docs and swagger API documentation.

  • Collaborate with the team to find creative solutions to complex problems.

  • Present development and automation ideas, data trends, project projections, plans, updates, and additional information to leadership. Create, build, and maintain partnerships with all levels of the organization, ensuring collaboration in system changes and enhancements.

(20%) Support/maintenance:

  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data to proactively identify trends and inform business partners.  Present metrics in an organized and understandable format to help make informed decisions. Create a variety of reports to meet business and leadership needs.

  • Work with store support team to triage production issues. Investigate, diagnose, and resolve incidents with minimal negative impact.

Must have:

  • Minimum of 5 year of software development with one or more of Node.js, Python, C# (.NET Core), TypeScript, React, or Angular.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in working with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Technologies used by Carters includes SQS, SNS, Event Bridge, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, API Gateway, VPC, EC2, ECS, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch.

  • Experience creating basic SQL queries and general operation of Databases.

  • Proficient with at least one software development IDE, such as Visual Studio (code), or JetBrains Tools.

  • Experience with code repositories such as Bitbucket or GitHub.

  • Ability to gather business and technical requirements, estimate project, and plan maintenance; ability to communicate these core aspects to both business and technical partners.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Experience with CICD, such as CodePipeline/CodeDeploy, CircleCI, or similar.

  • Experience writing Unit / Integration tests.

  • Critical thinking with a drive for process improvement.

  • Experience with REST API design.

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects without sacrificing quality.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including such areas as team spirit, negotiation, collaboration, pitching in where needed, and respecting individuals at all levels.

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field (MIS or CS preferred).
