How You’ll Make an Impact:

The ESP Lead Developer role works closely with the Marketing team and is responsible for designing, developing, testing, documenting, and deploying high-quality business solutions on the email platform based on industry-leading practices to support Marketing goals (e.g., conversions, engagement, brand consistency, or loyalty).

As the ESP Lead Developer, you are responsible for successfully designing and managing the delivery of solutions in the Salesforce Marketing Cloud ecosystem. These technologies include but are not limited to all components of Marketing Cloud (i.e., Journey Builder, Email Studio, Automation Studio, etc.), APIs and integrations, data model design, and development in AMPScript.

While remote, this role is only available to candidates in the lower 48, and operates on EST, 9-5.

Role Breakdown

Campaign, Custom & Trigger Development - 75%

  • Develop technical solutions within Salesforce Marketing Cloud utilizing skills such as SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and AMPscript

  • Support email campaign development team to include development, pre-deployment testing/QA and deployment of transactional and promotional sends

  • Map Data across multiple data sources, driving standardization and creating workflows that support personalization in customer communications

  • Collaborate with other solutions architects, product owners, developers, and administrators to solve technical challenges, while leveraging technical best practices and solution patterns for the email platform

  • Provide guidance and oversight for the development team, help control project scope, and handle any unforeseen issues that arise

Team Collaboration & Strategy - 20%

  • Collaborate with marketing, strategy and development team members to develop microsites, implement trigger programs, help define business requirements and map process flows as well as implement new functionality and product capabilities within the email platform

System Administration - 5%

  • Maintain overall health of the email platform including maintenance of user accounts, profiles, roles, sharing rules, and permission sets

  • Manage and support the DevOps CI/CD approach, including migration of functionality between integrating environments

Technical Competencies/Experience

  • Strong knowledge of AMPscript, SQL, and JavaScript

  • Minimum of three years of experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud including Email Studio, Journey Builder, Audience Builder, and experience in the creation and execution of Marketing Cloud automations using Automation Studio

  • Customize email applications using custom objects, workflows, validations, and formulas while adhering to leading practices

  • Strong background in Cloud Computing solutions and building custom integrations on Salesforce platform

  • Experience analyzing business problems and translating business requirements into technology solutions that consider system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, and scalability

  • Experience with responsive web application design and development

  • Proficient in Marketing cloud connector, data extensions, integration with external systems (via APIs) and knowledge of CRM/CDP and data integration is key

  • Actively participate in the technical design of new email solutions and related software components

  • Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to team members, work independently, multi-task, allocate time appropriately and prioritize effectively

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple email campaigns and priorities simultaneously.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the digital marketing and marketing automation domains

  • Continually monitor the strategic planning process and identify efficiencies, opportunities to optimize, leverage best practices

Prior Work Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Information Systems preferred

  • 6+ years’ experience in developing web-based technology solutions preferred

  • 3+ years’ experience working on the Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar platforms required

  • Experience designing and implementing technology-enabled business solutions preferred

  • Experience working with personalization tools (e.g., MovableInk) to deliver personalized and dynamic email content is preferred

  • Experience in supporting delivery of high-volume email campaigns is preferred

  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist and Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer certifications preferred
