HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:
The Operations Supervisor oversees the successful operation of their assigned department or area of responsibility within the Distribution Center. This role leverages both relationships and strategy to meet and exceed supply chain objectives and goals. This role typical reports to the Asst. Gen Mgr. and is based in our Stockbridge Distribution Center.
Area Performance
* Maintain minimum performance standards while performing required job functions.
* Manage workload and staffing to meet goals across assigned area
* Properly utilize people, equipment, technology and facility for distribution operations in assigned area
* Understand and achieve all functional area performance metrics (service, cost, quality and accuracy) for all channels of business
* Know and achieve productivity targets while maintaining high levels of safety, quality, accuracy, service and morale
* Understand and own the daily workload/workflow for your specific functional area and shift. Make sound business adjustments to ensure your functional area is operating at most efficient model
* Ensure the day-to-day operations of assigned functional area run smoothly and efficiently (meeting/exceeding all performance metrics while displaying top leadership behaviors).
* Understand and properly manage all production levers that impact assigned functional area productivity rates while maintaining high levels of service, quality and engagement
Staff Development
* Through training, coaching and leadership, ensure your team is achieving/exceeding daily production plans
* Model and promote teamwork within your functional area
* Effectively promote cross-training for all the associates assigned in assigned functional areas
* Work closely with peers and superiors (operations managers) to develop goals and objectives that align with shift/facility/corporate goals and objectives
* Develop associates (non-exempt) through timely feedback, effective communication, proper expectations and training, mentoring/coaching so they can achieve their professional metrics/goals and take on roles of increased responsibility over time
* Conduct midyear and annual performance reviews for all direct reports (addressing metrics and behaviors)
* Effectively collaborate and communicate with internal business partners (shift counter-parts, customer service, planning, quality, other operational teams, etc.).
* Direct reports include operations coordinators, specialist/clerks, and production associates for assigned area on assigned shift.
* Responsible for enforcing housekeeping, safety and C-TPAT compliance in assigned area of responsibility; Stay within compliance of the company policies regarding safety.
Process Improvement
* Understand and constantly use continuous improvement methodology to increase, quality, accuracy service and safety while increasing productivity
* Develop, implement and enforce standard operating procedures and daily work guidelines and processes that optimize resource (people, equipment, technology) utilization
* Conduct monthly safety walks and complete safety inspections
* Actively own safety (incidents, near misses, accidents, awareness, etc.) through full participation in all safety related matters (meetings, supporting initiatives, investigations, etc.

* Flexibility to work overtime and comply with blackout periods in a multi-shift distribution environment.
* Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
* Must be able to stand and work for long periods including daily overtime, holidays and overtime as required.
* Ability to lift to 50 pounds, scan with RF equipment, bend, twist, and be on your feet for shifts up to 12 hours long.
Preferred skills and experience:
* General understanding and knowledge of the latest distribution center technologies (Manhattan warehouse management systems (WMS), radio-frequency scanners, warehouse control systems (WCS), conveyors, etc.)
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* At least two years previous leadership experience preferred, preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
