How you’ll make an impact:

The Project Specialist supports retail stores across the U.S. and Canada in the execution of the company’s retail growth strategies, including new store openings, relocations, and closings. This role directly impacts up to 70 stores annually within Carter’s fleet of over 1,000 locations. This role serves as a collaborative partner to store employees, field leadership and cross-functional business teams to ensure seamless execution of store projects, drive operational excellence, and refine processes to maximize business impact. This role reports into Manager, Store Growth Initiatives and is based in our Atlanta, GA office.

Key responsibilities include:

60% Project Management

  • Lead all aspects of store projects from initiation to completion, including post-project hindsight reviews to identify and execute improvements
  • Leverage Smartsheet to manage project timelines, track task completion and ensure visibility and accountability across cross-functional teams for store projects
  • Analyze trends proactively, partnering with leadership to develop creative solutions that minimize disruptions and maximize revenue opportunities for new stores
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to resolve issues promptly during store opening, relocation, and closing processes
  • Coordinate operational needs and resources for field teams, ensuring seamless execution across all phases of store projects

20% Reporting and Analysis

  • Track and report on task completion, progress and key milestones for store projects
  • Compile, analyze, and share hindsight feedback from field and cross-functional teams to continuously refine processes
  • Regularly report on the resolution of outstanding issues, ensuring swift action to minimize timelines for unresolved tasks
  • Assist in creating and distributing KPI report to measure and evaluate store performance

20% Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for field leadership, store team, and cross-functional business partners, ensuring consistent communication and support for store project needs
  • Execute and refine a structured communication strategy, adjusting frequency and approach as needed to ensure stakeholders remain informed throughout all stages of store projects
  • Build and sustain strong collaboration with field teams and cross-functional business partners to align priorities, drive solutions, and achieve project goals

We’d Love to hear from you if:

Must have:

  • 3+ year’s experience in project management, store operations or retail store leadership
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proactive problem solver with a collaborative mindset, capable of independently resolving issues or escalating when necessary
  • Retail expertise with knowledge of retail practices, procedures, and systems
  • Experience in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Smartsheet or similar platforms
  • Bilingual skills are a plus (preferred languages: Canadian French and Spanish)
