The Lead Routing & Dispatch Coordinator is a working-lead role that supports the daily execution of
routing and dispatch operations while assisting the Routing & Dispatch Supervisor with operational
oversight. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient movement of
freight through effective load planning, dispatch execution, and real-time issue resolution.
As a hands-on operational lead, this role serves as a primary point of contact for drivers, carriers, and
internal stakeholders, providing guidance to team members while reinforcing processes, service
standards, and compliance expectations. The Lead serves as coverage for the Supervisor when
needed and supports workflow coordination, escalations, and team development in a fast-paced
environment.
This role is based in our Braselton distribution center, an on-site work environment.
Leadership & Supervisor Support (30%)
- Serve as the primary point of contact during the Supervisor’s absence, supporting daily routing
and dispatch operations.
- Assist with shift planning, workload distribution, and operational readiness to ensure coverage
and service continuity.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, direction, and real-time support to Routing & Dispatch
Administrators and associates.
- Support onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching of team members to reinforce
performance expectations and best practices.
- Monitor productivity, service levels, and workflow execution; escalate risks or issues to
leadership as needed.
- Reinforce compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and operational
procedures.
- Assist leadership with performance feedback and contribute to associate evaluations as
requested.
Operational Coordination & Dispatch Execution (35%)
- Coordinate daily routing and dispatch activities to support efficient load planning and on-time
delivery performance.
- Dispatch drivers and carriers, assign loads, and communicate schedules, updates, and
changes throughout the operating day.
- Monitor route execution in real time and proactively adjust plans to mitigate delays, capacity
constraints, or service disruptions.
- Act as an escalation point for complex routing, dispatch, or service-related issues, driving timely
resolution.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with customers, carriers, and internal teams
regarding shipment status and exceptions.
- Ensure all dispatch documentation, system updates, and tracking activities are completed
accurately and on time.
Routing, Reporting & Process Optimization (35%)
- Schedule and route customer orders in alignment with service level agreements (SLAs) and
customer-specific requirements.
- Oversee the full load lifecycle, including load creation, routing purchase orders, tracking, and
closure.
- Ensure compliance with routing guides, account requirements, and SCAC code maintenance.
- Prepare, review, and validate daily, weekly, and monthly transportation and operational
reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve routing efficiencies, service performance, and cost control.
- Partner with leadership to support continuous improvement initiatives and process
enhancements.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment aligned with operational standards.
We’d Love to hear from you if: (Requirements section) Must have: - 2+ years of experience in transportation, routing, dispatch, or distribution center operations. - Prior experience in a lead, or supervisory support role Preferred skills and experience: - Strong working knowledge of routing systems, dispatch processes, and transportation operations. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and transportation or warehouse management systems.
