How you’ll make an impact:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for accounting for and reconciliations of all employee based transactions including payroll, payroll taxes and certain employer expenses.
This role is a cross functional team player on the controller team who will partner and interact with many teams including payroll, HR, IT, Accounts payable, tax, retail, supply chain, international, external reporting, Treasury, and compensation.
This role typical reports into the Accounting Supervisor and has no direct reports. It is based in our Buckhead office functioning in our hybrid work environment. Essential job functions include recording payroll, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, P&L analysis, The role requires analytical problem-solving skills, great attention to detail, excellent communication and presentation skills, and follow through.
Accounting - 60%
- Responsible for all payroll journal entries, ensuring accuracy from payroll source to G/L for all US, Canada and Hong Kong payrolls.
- Record and ensure accuracy of key judgmental reserves and accruals for all Employee Based expenses including severance, relocation, performance-based compensation, and benefits.
- Perform General Ledger account analysis and prepare balance sheet reconciliations monthly; work with business partners to resolve reconciling items.
- Review and provide explanations for P&L variances to budget and forecasts on Payroll Processing expenses.
- Prepare and record necessary journal entries for Balance Sheet Reconciliation items.
- Provide Weekly information to Treasury on Payroll funding for Net, Garnishment and Payroll taxes.
- Ensure Sox Compliance over employee-related processes.
- Review staff accountant journal entries.
Analysis & Reporting - 30%
- Work closely with Payroll on reconciling Payroll taxes, ensuring all taxes are paid, filed timely and accurately by jurisdiction for US and Canada.
- Prepare Quarterly/Annual Data to Tax, Audit and HR teams.
- Execute and/or support extract of data from Payroll systems. Performs specialized analysis at management request.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial presentations and reports as needed.
- Complete yearly escheatment to states for Unclaimed property.
- Provide timely quarter-end reports and support to external reporting team for SEC filings.
- Develop and maintain standard reports and ad-hoc reports as needed.
Other - 10%
- Support the closing calendar timelines for assigned tasks and communicate issues accordingly.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners (Human Resources, Payroll, Tax, Distribution Finance, Canada/Hong Kong/Mexico Finance and Retail Finance teams)
- Document and streamline business processes and update business processes flows.
- Ensure compliance with internal process controls and continuously improve our internal processes and controls.
- Active participant in our digital transformation and innovation initiatives.
- Work with internal/external auditors to provide documentation to support our financial data/Controls.
- Participate on special projects as assigned.

Must have:
- Three (3) to five (5) years of accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills who exhibits a high degree of accuracy.
Preferred skills and experience:
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity working with General Ledger applications; experience with SAP, Workday and HFM a plus.
- Able to handle confidential company financial, Payroll and Employee information in a responsible manner.
- Master’s Degree and /or CPA license a plus
- Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Pro-active self-starter with good time management skills; able to multi-task
- Competent to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment; flexibility is a must.
- Committed to meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deliverables regardless of the obstacles (overtime and nights may be required as needed)
