Essential Job functions (Tasks, duties and responsibilities most important to get the job done)
- Prepare and record journal entries of operations: receipts, payments, sales, inventory, payroll, taxes.
- Calculate monthly payroll tax, social security contributions and FONACOT payments
- Perform bank reconciliations; perform account reconciliations
- Member of the month-end closing team through preparation of monthly journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation based on existing formats and timelines; accept GL, research and resolve old items and differences in a timely manner
- Communicate and work cross-functionally with other departments to respond to requests related to your area
- Provide ideas on potential process improvements
- Review employee expense reports to obtain documentation and approval.
- Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting/finance department
Analysis and Reporting
- Assist in analyzing monthly expenses and investigating any discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly expense analyses
- Quarterly KPI reporting
- Prepare analysis in line with management
- Other assigned projects and duties
Internal Controls
- Assist with internal and external audit request
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and controls
Internal Communication
- Meaningful internal communication with internal business partners to drive company initiatives and ensure the integrity and accuracy of our financial statements (i.e. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Store Finance, Inventory Finance, Internal Audit, Operations, Human Resources, IT and Corporate Accounting).
Knowledge, skill and ability requirements (minimum compentencies required for job performance)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel and general computer skills.
- Motivation, organization and effectiveness to achieve team goals.
- Strong ability to multi-task
- Excellent team player who works well in a collaborative environment
- Ability to work effectively with external vendors and internal employees
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate independent, objective and open-minded thinking with strong attention to detail
- Familiarity with Mexican electronic accounting standards
- Familiarity with Aspel, Concur, Proscai Accounting, SAP Finance, SUA, IDSE
Prior work experience and educational requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 1-3 years of accounting experience
