Personalization is a key strategic initiative at Carter’s, impacting all aspects of the business from how
associates interact with our customers in stores, the entire online shopping experience, and to all communications that customers receive.
As the Senior UX/UI Designer, you will be a highly visible and key player on the Carter’s Marketing team and play a vital role Carter’s personalization strategy as well our overall digital transformation efforts.
In this role you will partner with a team of Digital Graphic Designers, Ecommerce UX Designers, product managers, and developers to help support personalization, loyalty, and other marketing driven product features. A significant focus for this position will be to utilize our Content Management System in the design of new site and app features. The Senior Product Designer will also act as a direct liaison between the creative team, UX/UI team, and the development team ensuring a seamless transition from creative to execution.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Personalization and Content Strategy, this position will work closely with teams inside and outside of Marketing including Ecommerce, Brand & Creative, Merchandising, Development, to deliver customer-centric solutions. The candidate will consistently generate new ideas, approaches, and strategies that further the online experience for all brands and utilize industry best practices to define and implement solutions that make it easy for customers to shop. A firm understanding of usability research, interaction design principles, and front-end development will be crucial in this role.
The role is based in our Atlanta Phipps Tower office in a hybrid work environment, with heavy cross-functional collaboration required.
Essential Responsibilities Include:
Product Feature Development - 50%
Develop and create innovative concepts in keeping with project scope, strategic positioning, and timelines
Solid, current, and proven skills in all areas of UX design (research, IA, visual, prototyping, design sprints, etc.)
Experience creating clean and organized design artifacts (flow, journey maps, wireframes, comps, prototypes, and related documentation)
Create interaction models, workflows, screen designs, and visual details that resonate with Carter’s customers
Prepare, conduct, and validate working hypothesis with customers through usability research of wireframes, clickable prototypes and published product, and participate in design critique
Working knowledge of current front-end capabilities and limitations to partner closely with development to implement solutions
Maintain, guide, and push the boundaries of design systems and patterns
CMS Creative Development - 30%
Deliver guidance and oversight to evolve typography, photography, color, graphics and other components for optimizing brand storytelling + user experience, creating innovative visual solutions that meet business objectives and user needs across all eComm touchpoints
Support creative team in developing scalable design concepts while maintaining Carter’s brand identity and character
Work closely with analytics teams to gain insight on performance on a regular basis to be nimble and effective with content and campaign strategies
Serve as primary content and design lead on all personalization efforts
Support website updates, including landing page destinations, product storytelling and campaign creative; provide brand stewardship and design guidelines to business partners
Enterprise-wide CMS Operationalization Leadership - 20%
Support onboarding, adoption and execution of CMS tools and templates, serving as internal SME across creative function (Carter’s, OshKosh, Little Planet, Skip Hop, CRI)
Partner with cross-functional leads (Retail Activation, Demand Generation, Brand Marketing, Personalization, eCommerce) to ensure seamless execution of assets across all channels
Work hand-in-hand with the development team to ensure both creative and dev teams are utilizing our CMS platform to its fullest capabilities
Evolve templates to enhance customer experiences on the CRI eComm platforms
Serve as key conduit for connectivity between Creative, UX and Dev teams

Must haves:
Experience in product design, UX, UI
Previous experience in graphic design, branding and art direction preferred
Experience with CMS implementation preferred
Knowledge of technical (UX/UI) design
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across functional disciplines
Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects within specific deadline and creative parameters. Know how to think independently and problem solve
5+ years of relevant work experience directly designing and developing in a retail environment or advertising agency
Deep understanding of the tools of the trade (Sketch, XD, Photoshop, OmniGraffle, InVision, and other prototyping tools). Advanced knowledge in InDesign, Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects
Preferred skills and experience:
Strong conceptual and strategic thinking skills
Ability to concept, present and execute. Act as an exemplary representative of the experience team with internal partners and external vendors with the ability to interact comfortably with senior leadership.
Provide creative solutions consistent with industry trends, demonstrating ability to problem-solve, organize and project manage.
Ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand designs and visual elements.
Hands-on team player fluent in the fundamentals of branding
